SAMS for Student

“Youths are the building blocks of a Nation”

As teachers, parents and coaches we are aware about stresses in our life to some extent and some might also practice or know some method to get rid of stress. But have we ever thought about the levels of stress our children or students undergo at all ages especially in their adolescence and youth?

Of course! We must have thought about it! Although sometimes we are not actually aware when our children or teens are experiencing overwhelming feelings of stress.

Doctors are surprised to find more and more number of adolescent and teens and younger people diagnosed as diabetic and hypertensive and also inflicted with diseases which normally was seen in adult populations earlier!

Stress can come from a variety of sources like:

  • Not performing well in studies in a highly competitive environment
  • Examination fear.
  • Making and sustaining friendships
  • High expectations from parents and teachers and fear of falling short of it,
  • Peer pressure and feeling not good enough

The biggest problem is that youth of all ages, may find it difficult to recognize and verbalize when they are experiencing stress. Given below are few symptoms, by which as a parent or guardian you can observe to detect if your child is in stress:

  • Watch for negative changes in behavior: Like sleeping too much or too little; change in eating habits ; acting irritable or moody ; withdrawing from activities that they use to enjoy earlier etc.
  • “Feeling sick” may be caused by stress: Stress can also appear in physical symptoms such as stomach pains or headaches. One need to observe the frequency of such complains.
  • Be aware of how your teen is interacting with others: Feeling angry a lot of the time or getting into fights; not wanting to spend time with friends ; drinking alcohol or smoking etc.

We welcome teachers and parents to come forward and allow their children to be benefitted from SAMS Workshop which is separately designed only for the Youth and Students.
