In India, Baba’s has utilized his expertise in economics by creating innovative sustainable development programs to address the root causes of poverty.
Baba's organization, Lokenath Divine Life Mission (LDLM) serves over 270,000 patients a year with low-cost, homeopathic medical care. 206 village and street schools educate over 8,000 children. Avoiding handouts and more traditional approaches to charity, LDLM provides the training necessary through self help groups to overcome poverty through personal effort, adult literacy and other educational programs, and MicroCredit enterprises. Farmers’ Clubs teach the latest eco-friendly agricultural techniques. 320 Women’s Self-Help Groups support 2844 women in assuming economic and other leadership roles in their communities.
The Government of West Bengal is currently partnering with LDLM and local village populations in communities to provide a new model for rural development through LDLM’s Model Village Project. Visit www.babalokenath.org for more details about Baba's work and his mission.
